New Highway Inaugurated in Chiriquí

The newly inaugurated Pan-American Highway in Boca Chica, 30 kilometers long, is a project developed by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), with a considerable investment of $23,877,998.66.

This ambitious project includes the construction of a public pier in the picturesque town of Boca Chica — already 87% complete — as well as viewpoints, rest areas, and the improvement of local parks. These improvements not only strengthen the local economy but also make it easier to reach the area's tourist attractions.

In addition, it contemplates the rehabilitation and improvement of the internal streets of Horconcitos, the construction of three vehicular bridges, and the rehabilitation of the road sections from Boca Chica to Playa Hermosa and from Boca Chica to Playa Punta Bejuco and Gavilla — areas of great tourist activity.

On another note, 11.6 kilometers of power lines have been installed in the town of Bajo Mendre, including the internal electrification of 37 homes, benefiting the local population both directly and indirectly.

Likewise, a new modular bridge has been inaugurated over the El Progreso canal, which will benefit more than 15,000 residents of the Progreso area within the Barú district.

This new structure, managed by the Ministry of Development, has one vehicle lane and two pedestrian walkways, representing a significant improvement in mobility and quality of life for the entire community.
